DxO PureRAW 5.3 brings DeepPRIME XD3 X-Trans out of Beta
DeepPRIME XD3 X-Trans for Fujifilm X Photographers
No matter what ISO setting you choose to photograph with, you will definitely be impressed with the results. Whether you photograph with your X-Series camera's base ISO setting or crank it up as I do when covering hockey games in poorly lit arenas, you can rest assured that DxO PureRAW 5.3 will generate the cleanest, most detailed version of your RAF files.
If ever there was a case for "Oh man, now I have to revisit all of my favourite RAF files ..." this is it.
I know I said this about the previous version of DeepPRIME 5.2.1 regarding my NEF files but it's true.
NOTE: I need to put this out there; Yes, I am a part of DxO's Affiliate Program and yes, if you do decide to use my affiliate link and discount code at the end of this article, I will make a small commission if you do indeed make a purchase ... Doing so will help me to continue writing articles such as this but, if you choose not to do so, that's fine as well.
All that being said, I have been on the lookout for better and better RAW converters including noise reduction for decades and every few years a new piece of software comes along. I have purchased more RAW converters than I care to mention and a number of years back I gave DxO's PhotoLab 4 and then version 5 which included PureRAW 2 and I was not disappointed with the results. If I am not mistaken PhotoLab 5.0.0 produced results similar to or slightly better than others on the market at the time.
Anyways, let's get back on topic here. I want to show you what has me so excited about this latest release. I am not going to go through all of the dialog boxes and such as I did in my previous article on DxO's PureRAW 5.2.1 - you read all about that stuff there.
The before and after images I am going to show here were all processed with the default settings just to show you what you get right out of the box so to speak. After trying out your own RAF files using just the default settings, you may want to play around with either the Luminance or Force details sliders to see how they affect images captured with your specific Fujifilm camera and lens combination.
These first two images are the original, un-cropped versions just so you can see the full image.
The first image in all the comparisons that follow is the unprocessed version and the second is the version processed using DxO's PureRAW 5.3 DeepPRIME XD3 X-Trans processing method.
When I say unprocessed I mean no noise reduction or sharpening has been performed.
